Ask the Officer: Col. MicroHamster

NORTHERN LIGHTS, UKAHALA–As RFCP starts off a new year of fun and excitement, RFCP Col. MicroHamster kicks off a brand new “Ask the Officer” blog series!

When I initially asked late last year who our soldiers wanted interviewed first for the new blog series, I assumed they would pick one of our higher-ranking officers. However, as you can see here, the soldiers of the Recon Federation of Club Penguin have decided to use me (Col. MicroHamster) as the guinea pig for our newest segment.

I requested that everyone DM me the burning questions they wanted answered for the blog, and you all delivered. Without further ado, let’s see what you all came up with!

Q: Are you interested in robotics and code? – F.M. JustinTFC
A: I actually took a computer coding class in school. It wasn’t anything major, just the basics of using html code, but I did find it very fun. While I have never actually gotten into robotics, I’ve always found it interesting to see how things work, especially in the technological sense.

Q: Who do you want to see as one of the next officers of RFCP? – DJChorusKid
A: Honestly, I’m not really sure. There are several people that stick out to me that I think would be amazing as an officer, so I don’t think I could pick just one person. Hopefully one of our Officer’s in Training will join us soon though!

Pssst! Maj. DJ would make a great Officer!

Q: What’s the juiciest thing in the Officers’ chat that we soldiers don’t know? – DJChorusKid
A: Again, there’s a few things that stick out to me with this question, so I’ll just go through the top 3:
1. Col. Shy Guy has discovered how to make perfect toasted ham and cheese sandwich! I think he may actually be Gordon Ramsay in disguise.

2. December has passed and we still don’t know when Gen. Anilia’s birthday is. The answer to this question has evaded us all for months, and we are, sadly, no closer to getting an answer.

3. Speaking of Gen. Anilia, it may have gone unnoticed, but she organized all of the paid roles in the server! Make sure you give her a big thank you!

Q: What’s your favorite microwaveable food? – Arne
A: Popcorn is good, but for actual food, I have to admit that I love these

Image result for banquet buffalo mac and cheese
It’s not the healthiest, but it’s a good comfort food!

Q: How does it feel to be an Officer for the RFCP? – DabOn
A: It’s amazing! It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s very well worth it when something we’ve all worked at comes together. It may not seem like it, but there’s a lot of work that goes into planning events and making sure they happen.

Q: What was your favorite RFCP event or point in history? – Commissar Hamster
A: Storytimes are always a lot of fun, but I think watching Dragon Tales in the voicechat (Krispy TV) was one of my favorite things we’ve done. Everyone got so involved in it and it was fun just chilling with everyone.

Q: What was your proudest moment in RFCP? – Commissar Hamster
A: Hands down, getting to see JustinTFC become an Officer! He’s been like a little brother to me right from the start, and I was ecstatic to be his mentor and help him on his journey to becoming an Officer.

Q: If you were Commander for the day, what would you do? – Commissar Hamster
A: Start a fire in every channel. I’m kidding mostly. I’m not even sure; I’d definitely write a blog about whatever happened, though.

Hopefully that answered all of your questions!

What do YOU think of the new “Ask the Officer” blog series? Who would YOU like to see next month on the second segment in this series? Leave us a comment below and let us know your thoughts!

Soldier of the Week: 2nd and 3rd Quarter Recipients!

NORTHERN LIGHTS, UKAHALA–Take a look back on our soldiers of the week and celebrate them one more time!

“I love my soldiers.”

Prior Bumble has said this over. and. over.

At RFCP, we really do. And that’s something that makes us different. Our SOTW (Soldier of the Week) is chosen every Friday and receives a special role and lots of affection and appreciation. Oftentimes small prizes accompany this special recognition, and rank has no bearing on worth. Even Agents who just joined days ago might be the recipient of SOTW.

For a look back on our 1st Quarter SOTW recipients, see here! Below is listed our 2nd and 3rd quart recipients.

We love you!

The Real Life Medal of Merit

NORTHERN LIGHTS, UKAHALA–Ever wanted an RFCP medal in real life?  Now, for the first time in RFCP history, your dream can become a reality!

The Medal of Merit is the most prestigious and most difficult medal to obtain in RFCP. To earn this incredible honor, you have to commit a remarkable achievement that the Commander deems worthy of the medal. So far, only 8 people out of hundreds have obtained this medal, at time of the writing of this blog.  And who knows, maybe YOU can be the next recipient, if you continue to work hard!

On September 10th, 2020, Prior Bumble announced groundbreaking news for Medal of Merit recipients.  Any soldier or Officer who has obtained the high-ranking medal is now eligible to obtain a real life version! The medal is handcrafted by our very own founder, Prior Bumble, and I gotta say, it’s a really fine looking medal if you ask me.

Look how handsome it is!

Cmdr. Prior said it takes him about two days to make each medal, and that he uses popsicle sticks, glue, glitter, Sharpies, a bottlecap, and lots of love with his own two hands.

This medal is certainly not the first piece of real life RFCP merchandise, but it is the first award that soldiers can not only receive digitally, but physically as well!

(There ARE lovely buttons in the RFCP store bearing the medals’ likeness, but these do not count as a real medal. See below anyway!)

So far, 2 real-life Medals of Merit are known to exist.

Keep in mind that this incredible handmade medal is only available for those who had already received the Medal of Merit from the Commander.  But could there be real-life mints of the other RFCP medals, such as the Medal of Honor and the RFCP Black Star?

“I’m not ruling it out,” Cmdr. Prior said. “If I see demand, I’d love to make them for you.”

You heard it here! If we like that idea, comrades, we better let him know!

Whether you are one of the lucky enlisted to already earn the Medal of Merit, or possibly a future recipient, make sure you take the opportunity to receive this priceless piece of RFCP culture and history!  Contact a Banker–or Prior Bumble himself–to order your very own Medal of Merit today!

What do YOU think of the Medal of Merit in real life?  Are you planning on receiving yours from Prior Bumble?  Leave us a comment below to let us know your thoughts!

Reporter-in-Training

So You Think You Can Be an Officer?

NORTHERN LIGHTS, UKAHALAMajor Arne is here to tell us all about Commander CoolJ’s newest Officer Training Program.

So, you think you have what it takes to become an RFCP officer?

According to our Commander–the coolest of j’s, Coolj–you don’t. Yet!

And that’s why, due to promotion demands by many Majors like yours truly, Coolj decided to reinvent what a Major (and Captain) has to do to make the jump to Officer.

It all started with a #news post the 23rd of January, 2021. We were fresh off the heels of the 4th semiannual Feddies, and the third feddiegate, WHICH I CRACKED ON THIS BLOG POST Coolj randomly made an announcement to all Majors and Captains stating that all soldiers interested in a promotion should DM him. I, naturally, followed suit.

Coolj then spilled the beans in my direct messages.

Initially, the quota required to take the next step towards Officer was recruiting 3 soldiers and hosting 3 events. After completing both, I (as a Major) would be awarded with a moderator role and would start moderating the server for a bit. If the soldier in question were a Captain, he would be promoted to Major and would sometimes also be able to moderate the server, depending on experience. I personally managed to get the recruits, but more information came on the 25th of January in the GC (Group Chat) with all 6 Captains and Majors that had asked about becoming Officers.

Coolj made the announcement in said GC that, since there were a lot of people fighting for the promotions, now they would have to recruit 5 soldiers and plan 5 events, and 3 of those events must be Club Penguin practice battles. For Captains looking to reach Major, the previous requirements would still apply, with the exception of an additional task: attending 5 events.

You would expect, thus, for RFCP to be thriving with events and new recruits. And it has been, to some extent. This also marked a brief revival of our Telethon server, in which I may or may not have had a sabotage battle against DJ.

But with all of these requirements, who will be the first soldier to beat all the tasks and grab the promotion to Field Marshal and Officery? We don’t know yet, but I sure as hell will be there to try.

The Importance of Recruitment

NORTHERN LIGHTS, UKAHALA: Colonel ShyGuy steps into the spotlight with his very first blog!

As you all know, the main reason RFCP is an army is because of recruitments. After all, how would anyone have known about RFCP unless they were invited or recruited by someone? Every army does recruitments to gain soldiers, but did you know that RFCP has its very own Recruitment Coalition?

The Recruitment Coalition is a division in the RFCP that focuses strictly on recruitment. Led by General Anilia, this division offers assistance to people who are learning to recruit, and also helps organize group recruitments!

However, I have seen a lack of recruitment effort from several people, and that results in some tough love from the officers and having multiple pings at events when we don’t have many people online.

This number is weeeeeeeak.

It’s common sense to recruit, so why not recruit a friend of yours and/or advertise RFCP in another server?

If you need any more incentive, recruiting is the most high-paying job you can do in RFCP, with $25 Bumble Bucks earned per new recruit. We also have recruitment competitions from time to time that can bring you in even more Bumble Bucks and help get you to (or closer to) your goal of getting that Billy Bot Thornton pillow (available in the RFCP store).

So get out there and recruit, or, as General Anilia would say:

Not really.

The Stolen Watch

Author Unknown

May be a cartoon of one or more people and outerwear

An old man meets a young man who asks, “Do you remember me?”

And the old man says no. Then the young man tells him he was his student, and the teacher asks, “What do you do in life?”

The young man answers, “Well, I became a teacher.”

“Like me?” asks the old man.

“Yes. In fact, I became a teacher because you inspired me to be like you.”

The old man, curious, asks the young man at what time he decided to become a teacher. And the young man tells him the following story:

“One day, a friend of mine, also a student, came in with a beautiful new watch, and I decided I wanted it. So I stole it. I took it from his backpack after he had shown us it. Shortly after, my friend noticed that his watch was missing and immediately complained to our teacher, who was you.

“You addressed the class saying, ‘This student’s watch was stolen during class today. Whoever stole it, please return it.’ I didn’t give it back because I didn’t want to, and I was scared.

“You told us all to stand and form a circle. You were going to search our pockets one by one until the watch was found. However, you told us to close our eyes, because you would only look for the watch if we all had our eyes closed. We did as instructed.

“You went from pocket to pocket, and when you went through my pocket, you found the watch and took it. You kept searching everyone’s pockets, and when you were done you said, ‘Open your eyes. We have the watch.’

“You didn’t tell on me and you never mentioned the episode. You never said who stole the watch, either. That day you saved my dignity forever. It was the most shameful day of my life. But this is also the day I decided not to become a thief, a bad person, etc. You never said anything, nor did you even scold me or take me aside to give me a moral lesson. I received your message clearly. Thanks to you, I understood what a real educator needs to do. Do you remember this episode, professor?”

The old professor answered, “Yes, I remember the situation with the stolen watch. I didn’t remember you, because I also closed my eyes while looking.”

This is the essence of teaching. If to correct you must humiliate, you don’t know how to teach.
