DOWN WITH BIG GOVERNMENT! Well…maybe…

NORTHERN LIGHTS, UKAHALA–The army’s most popular item has once again increased in price. Could this lead to revolt?

Yes. Not long ago, the Recon Federation of Club Penguin (RFCP) store price of Discord Boosting Nitro was an affordable 1,400 Bumble Bucks (BB), even after it was marked up from 1,200 BB in the recent Bumble Buck rise in Nitro prices. Now, it is 1,800 BB, and a rule has been added that Nitro must only be bought for the purchaser and not for someone else in or out of the server (previously, gifting the Nitro to another member was okay so long as he or she were enlisted).

The event which prompted this occurred on the evening of February 11, 2023, when Lt. YoKillua purchased Boosting Nitro to give to his friend Agent Halozz. Commander Prior Bumble honored the purchase, but immediately took to the #bank-of-rfcp channel to announce the new policy and prices–in a disgruntled manner.

Basic Nitro also increased from $800 BB to $900 BB. In fact, the Commander originally only raised the price of Boosting Nitro, and then only to 1,600. But when Field Marshal DJchoruskid pointed out that Basic Nitro was unaffected, the chief corrected that swiftly and tacked on another $200 BB to the Booting Nitro for the heck of it, leaving us with that 1,800 BB price tag.

While the no-gifting rule is fair, given the abuse of Prior’s wallet by ex-RFCP soldiers who desert, and because non-active soldiers without BB have no incentive to engage with the army if other soldiers work for their Nitro, the steep increase can easily prove too much for the lower class, who can no longer afford the luxury of boosts, emojis, and server profiles. Even if I patrol to the maximum every day of the month, I cannot afford monthly Boosting Nitro now.

The solution? Band together as a group of like-minded penguins, and fight back against the skyrocketing prices brought on by the 1%!

The #RFCPUnion shall rise, and we, as the people, shall make our voices heard against the unaffordable costs of our basic penguin rights! (Disclaimer: Nitro is not a basic penguin right.)

As a team, we will work together, uniting until the cost of Boosting Nitro is restored to its former glory! (By which I mean 1,400 BB, or 1,600 BB, at most. Not the Coolj Era price of 4,800 BB. That wasn’t glorious.).  Although it’s unsure just how the union will work, if it will work, or if it’ll get more than 1 to 2 people in its lifespan, we can be sure that the early start of the union is known, going off of the words of RFCP members:

How do you feel about a potential union forming against the RFCP store? How has the steep increase in Nitro pricing affected you?

Imo, it’s a little funny that there’s a union forming against RFCP and tbh the pricing hasn’t affected me at all – Exsavitator#2648

As banker of RFCP, I see everyone’s earnings and purchases and can understand how the steep increase in Nitro pricing would make Nitro more unattainable.  I am the occasional Nitro purchaser and see that this increase would be discouraging for people, including myself.  Although given the fact that Prior has paid hundreds of dollars in Nitro recently I don’t think it’s fair to him or his wallet to give Nitro away for cheap either.  I would propose the union fighting to make patrols or recruits worth more in response to the Nitro increase so people would be able to still have a reasonable amount of work to get Nitro to balance out the price increase. – HamsterloverL#1175

Well it made me feel angry but sadly I can’t do anything for the nitro prices and I feel it would be funny to have a union in RFCP – $YoKillua#6969

Seriously–BOTH Nitros are still under 2,000 BB, and I consider that more than fair and affordable. RFCP is not a business and you are not employees. We are soldiers under Prior Bumble, serving the army because we love the army. The army’s value does not come from BB, but from the merits we earn and the values we hold and the fun we have. My vision for Bumble Bucks was never to have it become a sole incentive for participating in RFCP. Rather, they were to be a secondary way to encourage a little extra oomph, and the prizes were primarily meant to be real-life merch items which serve the purpose of expanding our brand, pride, and morale by reminding the recipient and their associates of us, as an RFCP mug might do. Nitro does not do that. As Col. Random even admitted, we are not a “Nitro mine.” – Prior Bumble#7593

My response to the Commander was that Boosting Nitro DOES enhance the RFCP, though–it allows soldiers to use custom RFCP animated emojis and boost the server to unprecedented prowess.

Even Billy is…probably on board? Idk, he doesn’t say other things much

Clearly, everyone except the Commander is DEVASTATED at this price change, and they all take the union VERY SERIOUSLY. The union in question is and will always be open to all, so don’t be afraid to show your support. One of the easiest ways to support the union is to put #RFCPunion in your server name and talk with your fellow members about ways to COMPLETELY OWN the structure of RFCP, such as patrolling, recruiting, planning events for the union- ᵂᵃᶦᵗ ʷʰᵃᵗ ᵈᵒ ʸᵒᵘ ᵐᵉᵃⁿ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᶦˢ ᵗʰᵉ ᵒᵖᵖᵒˢᶦᵗᵉ ᵒᶠ ʰᵒʷ ᵃ ᵘⁿᶦᵒⁿ ʷᵒʳᵏˢˀ ᵂʰᵃᵗ, ᵘˢᵘᵃˡˡʸ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᵍᵒ ᵒⁿ ˢᵗʳᶦᵏᵉˀ ᵀʰᵉʸ ᵈᵒⁿ’ᵗ ᵈᵒ *ᵐᵒʳᵉ* ᵗʰᶦⁿᵍˢ ᵗᵒ ʰᵉˡᵖ ᵗʰᵉ ᵖᵉᵒᵖˡᵉ ᵗʰᵉʸ’ʳᵉ ʳᵉᵛᵒˡᵗᶦⁿᵍ ᵃᵍᵃᶦⁿˢᵗˀ …ᴱʰ, ᶦᵗ’ˢ ᵖʳᵒᵇᵃᵇˡʸ ᶠᶦⁿᵉ, ᵗʰᶦˢ’ˡˡ ᵗᵒᵗᵃˡˡʸ ʷᵒʳᵏ.
