Know Your Channel: #bank-of-rfcp

NORTHERN LIGHTS, UKAHALA—Do you want to learn all about the history of the RFCP financial system, and some fun facts about the channel that runs it? Keep reading for a deep dive into one of RFCP’s favorite channels to be pinged in!

We live in a society that functions under a capitalist regime. Most, if not all, of the countries in the world, including Colombia, have some type of buy/sell/trade system in effect for exchanging goods and services; and Club Penguin isn’t any different. Ever since its launch in 2005, the Club Penguin currency has been coins earned by playing games, or collecting them with codes. Considering that the Recon Federation of Club Penguin (RFCP) is a Club Penguin-based army, it is only logical that we and every army would have some type of financial system in place as well, right?

Wrong!

RFCP is one of only two armies we know of that utilizes a complex system of cryptocurrency soldiers can trade in for prizes. (The other army we refer to is the Army of Club Penguin (ACP), which uses shamrocks). In this light, RFCP is incredibly innovative!

The Bank of RFCP opened on November 15, 2019, and it introduced the world our currency–Bumble Bucks, or BB abbreviated. Two channels were opened as the RFCP financial system emerged: #bank-of-rfcp and #rfcp-store. The latter was just a menu with all sorts of interesting stuff and RFCP merch to buy, set with their respective Bumble Buck prices. Soldiers were then invited to open their bank accounts, helped by the newly named Treasurer of the bank, Maj. Cc.

After the initial bills and the store menu were unveiled, seven of our soldiers rushed to open a bank account, and soon many more would follow. 308 messages were sent that first day, and an immediate $50 Bumble Bucks reward was promised for attending a battle that same afternoon. After the battle, eighteen soldiers earned their first ever paychecks!

To date, the store has added many items since its opening, and three new bills have been added to the RFCP bank, with a fourth new bill rumored to be on the way. The current bankers are Commissar Hamster, Gen. Sillabye, and Col. Shy Guy.

A total of 3,988 bills have been given out (calculated by officer messages containing bills) in the #bank-of-rfcp channel. Also, 22,000 messages have been sent there total, 34 of which have been pinned. The first 8 of those pins were a mix between rules, the original store menu, and the original six bills. The $1 Bumble Buck holds the record for the least-used bill and has been given out a total of sixteen times, as a joke mostly!

The easiest highlight to pick out of the pins from this channel’s history was on January 11th, 2020, when retired Lt. ThatOneNoob, Col. Shy Guy, retired Brigadier Waffle, and retired RFCP Legend Gen. Tumbling performed a mass robbery of the bank! Shy Guy broke open the bank vault, while Waffle robbed retired Red Baron Jamie’s hiding spot dry of his Bumble Bucks, and Noob fought off the police and slayed innocent civilians upstairs. Commander Prior Bumble didn’t quite notice until later.

The theft was a big success, earning Noob $500,000 Bumble Bucks, which he gave away to Tumbling. No one knows what happened to the money, but Tumbling spent his Bucks by sending $200,000 bucks off to space, a stunt that cost him $100,000 bucks, leading to him stating, “Congratulations, I have destroyed your economy” right after doing it.

The channel is fairly self-explanatory, but still one of the most used in the RFCP server. Officers can give out $20 Bumble Bucks a day for random reasons, and soldiers receive payments for patrolling and doing other RFCP-jobs. Who doesn’t like getting paid?
